Job description

Mercer Advisors Hires Chief Solutions Officer From Morgan Stanley

Melissa Nims takes over for Jeremiah Barlow, who has been appointed to the newly created chief commercial officer position.

Mercer Global Advisors, the Denver-headquartered registered investment advisor with $96 billion in assets under management, has hired Melissa Nims, a former Morgan Stanley executive, as its chief solutions officer. She takes over for Jeremiah Barlow, who has been appointed to the newly created chief commercial officer position.

Nims joins from Morgan Stanley, where she spent the last two decades, most recently as managing director and chief operating officer of investment solutions. In her new role, sheโ€™ll lead Mercerโ€™s wealth solutions platform, which includes tax, estate, trust, insurance and business management. Sheโ€™ll oversee a team of more than 250 professionals; one of her focuses will be to grow that team to 300 by the end of the year.

Nims said her team will be adding to the suite of offerings over time, but her immediate focus will be on scaling the wealth solutions organization. That includes plans to grow the team and bring in more experts and partners.

โ€œItโ€™ll also be thinking through technology and innovation,โ€ she said. โ€œHow do we give them tools to do their jobs even better and to create transparency across not just the wealth solutions organization, but also our advisors and clients, so they can see where we are in the experience?โ€
