What You’ll Actually Do

Chevron is hiring Full Time Health, Safety, and Environment Specialists at various operating locations across the U.S., including: Richmond, CA; El Segundo, CA; Houston, TX; Midland, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; Covington, LA; Belle Chasse, LA; Pascagoula, MS; Bakersfield, CA; Pasadena, TX; Greeley, CO; Ames, IA; Geismar, LA.

Responsibilities
  • Environmental Specialist:
    • Advising on environmental regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Developing procedures and guidelines.
    • Compiling emissions estimates and reduction studies.
    • Modeling.
    • Developing environmental impact assessments.
    • Preparing control technology assessments.
    • Assessing site remediation plans.
    • Identifying waste management solutions.
  • Safety Specialist:
    • Advising on regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Developing safety procedures and guidelines.
    • Conducting safety inspections and audits.
    • Evaluating and addressing ergonomic risks.
    • Developing strategies to improve safety and health performance.
    • Designing and delivering safety courses.
  • Industrial Hygiene Specialist:
    • Advising on regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Developing and implementing plans and procedures.
    • Conducting exposure assessments and audits.
    • Designing and delivering training.
    • Recommending and evaluating exposure controls.
Qualifications
  • Two years of experience or less.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree in Industrial Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering with an environmental emphasis, Civil Engineering with an environmental emphasis (master’s or PhD), Environmental Sciences (PhD), Safety Science, Geology/Hydrogeology (master’s or PhD preferred).
  • Desire and ability to work in both domestic and international locations as new opportunities arise.
  • Ability to demonstrate The Chevron Way.
Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated salary range: $84,000–$91,000 yearly. As an intern, benefits include furnished housing, participation in the Employee Savings Investment Plan with immediate vesting and company matches (4% or 8% depending on contribution), flexible work schedules (5/40, 9/80, or 4/10) as determined by the work group, paid holidays based on schedule, and full year of service credit for each internship completion (must be re‑employed within 365 days). If later converted to a full‑time graduate position, Chevron offers competitive pay and benefits, including healthcare, time off, retirement plans, and development opportunities.
