The Manufacturing Engineer - Chemical is responsible for supporting and improving chemical manufacturing processes to drive safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives. This role provides technical expertise for manufacturing operations involving chemical processing, filtration, separation, purification, water treatment, and related production technologies. The Manufacturing Engineer partners with Operations, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to optimize processes, reduce waste, improve yields, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using Danaher Business System (DBS) principles.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager, is part of the Engineering team located in Deland, FL, and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Provide technical support for daily manufacturing operations and chemical production processes. Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, operating procedures, and process controls.
  • Analyze process performance and partner with Quality and EHS teams to ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting of chemical systems, filtration equipment, wastewater treatment processes, and related manufacturing operations. Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Design and execute process validation, qualification, and continuous improvement projects. Utilize Lean Manufacturing and DBS tools to eliminate waste and improve operational performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 2-5+ years of process engineering or chemical processing experience.
  • Knowledge of process optimization, statistical analysis, and root cause methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation, SOPs, and process control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and industrial chemical processing environment with exposure to industrial equipment, wastewater treatment systems, and chemical processing operations.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to support off-shift troubleshooting and project activities as needed.
  • Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, walk, reach, squat, kneel, climb, push and pull.
  • Occasional travel for training, project support, or supplier visits.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Industrial wastewater treatment systems, acid recovery systems, or environmental remediation processes.
  • Identifying and driving Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) methodologies and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Environmental permitting, wastewater discharge compliance, and chemical process safety management.
