Job description

Meaty Eats is a specialty retailer focusing on Fresh Organic Meats and Charcuterie as well as in house Prepared Foods. We operate two locations in the GTA focusing on quality goods, curated product selection and customer experience.


In support of the Retail Operations / Food Service and Culinary Manager, Chef's play a critical part in delivering our food service and culinary programs. Through the preparation of various cooked, cured, pickled, and prepared items they help us achieve our mission to be the trusted choice for value-added meat products in the GTA.


A background in food service or hospitality with 2-3 years experience working in a commercial / production kitchen or similar environment, a sincere respect for food, and commitment to the highest food safety and quality standards will prove pivotal in the fulfillment of their duties.


Main Duties

Daily operation of the Meaty Eats kitchen including;

  • Follow opening and closing procedures
  • Execute work plan using existing recipes, monitoring shrink
  • Managing and scheduling support staff
  • Order products and materials
  • Clean and organize the kitchen. Follow all required checklists and cleaning schedules ensuring standards are maintained while observing all food safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere health and safety procedures
  • Assist customers as required with meal planning ideas and other suggestions to drive customer loyalty
  • Help train retail store associates on product including talking points to assist in delivering a world-class shopping experience.
  • Other duties as required.


Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience working in a commercial kitchen.
  • High school diploma and/or adequate math and English skills (oral, reading, writing) are required.
  • Culinary education/management considered an asset.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
