Position Overview 

The High School and Middle School Throwing Coach supports the mission of the school by strengthening a tradition of quality athletics while challenging student-athletes to excel academically and grow as followers of Christ. This position focuses on developing student-athletes in the throwing events while contributing to the overall success and culture of the track and field program.

 Reports to: Athletic Director  

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Provide instruction, supervision, and skill development for high school and middle school throwing events (shot put and discus). 
  • Assist the Head Track & Field Coach with organization and oversight of field events during practices and competitions. 
  • Foster a positive, Christ-centered team culture that emphasizes character, sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability. 
  • Support the coordination and management of home track meets, including event setup, operation, and breakdown. 
  • Ensure proper use, care, and storage of throwing equipment and facilities. 
  • Transport student-athletes and/or equipment to team or program-related events as needed, following school policies and safety guidelines. 
  • Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, athletic department, student-athletes, and families as appropriate. 
  • Follow all school, league, and governing body rules and policies. 
  • Perform other duties related to the track and field program as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Department. 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Knowledge or experience in track and field throwing events (shot put and discus preferred). 
  • Ability to mentor and positively influence middle school and high school student athletes.
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the school.
  • Ability to meet school and state coaching certification requirements. 

Physical Requirements: 

Ability to run, climb stairs, and respond swiftly during emergencies.

Move quickly in various situations. 

Agility and flexibility for navigating school premises. 

Ability to stand, stoop, crawl, bend or kneel.
