Job description

This position is in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee's office. We are seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals with bankruptcy matters. Responsibilities include managing office correspondence, entering and maintaining bankruptcy case data, preparing and filing documents with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and providing general administrative support. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and able to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Apply today to join our team. This is a full-time in-office position.

Compensation:

$25 - $30 hourly


Responsibilities:
  • Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothly
  • Manage office correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, responding to emails, and reminding the team of upcoming deadlines
  • Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested
  • Preparing and filing legal documents through PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) and CM/ECF electronic filing systems


Qualifications:
  • Some knowledge of legal software, case management, and docketing programs
  • Ability to comfortably use all Microsoft Office products
  • Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Applicants must be able to type 50 words per minute or faster
  • Must have two years of experience in a law firm environment for this position.

  • Prefer candidates with some accounting and accounts receivable experience.

We are responsible for the administration and oversight of all Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases filed in the Waco and Austin Divisions of the Western District of Texas, including case management, plan review, payment disbursement, and compliance monitoring under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
