About the Opportunity

TalentoHC is partnering with a leading organization seeking a Retail Business Development Manager (Specialty) to join its growing team.

This role will be responsible for managing and growing relationships with key specialty market retailers and licensing partners, serving as the primary liaison between retailers, vendors, and internal Licensing, Creative, and Marketing teams. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in retail account management, consumer products, and channel sales and a proven ability to drive results in a fast-paced, specialty retail environment.

This opportunity offers the chance to work closely with senior leadership while contributing to strategic initiatives that support organizational growth and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and manage relationships with key specialty market retailers, keeping them informed on marketing initiatives, business opportunities, and overall brand strategy
  • Serve as the key liaison between retailers/vendors and internal Licensing, Creative, and Marketing teams
  • Build team documents, calendars, placement grids, and program tracking documents
  • Route retail marketing elements for internal approval, and work with marketing on in-store and online promotions
  • Follow up with retailers and business partners on business updates, quarterly forecasts, and program initiatives
  • Compile and maintain retail/licensee lists and a retail account activity tracker
  • Partner with licensing partners and retailers to pitch and sell in cross-category retail programs
  • Build targeted presentations to pitch retailers and provide business updates
  • Contribute to new business development recruitment through blue-sky ideation and incremental business opportunities
  • Conduct opportunity identification, trend research, and overall market analysis
  • Assist with planning and coordinating meetings, trade shows, and retail activations
  • Analyze sales data and recommend changes to sales techniques or promotional efforts based on market research and new trends
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive franchises, and economic conditions, and communicate relevant information to the internal team
  • Visit stores monthly, reporting on observations, opportunities, and the competitive landscape
  • Attend trade shows and industry functions as applicable
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Marketing & International Business, or related field preferred) and 5+ years of experience in Consumer Products, corporate retail, and/or channel sales
  • Proficient in Excel, MS Office, PowerPoint/Keynote, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solution-minded and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, managing several projects at once
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • A team player who is flexible and able to take direction
  • Must reside in Southern California and be able to travel to the office two days per week
