We are recruiting for a Project Manager, Research and Information to join our team in our Montreal office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in legal and/or competitive intelligence, project management or strategic operations, ideally acquired in a law firm or professional services environment and will be responsible for planning, managing and developing initiatives related to legal and strategic research, technology and operational activities. As a Project Manager, Research and Information, you will:

R&I project planning and execution

  • Plan and deliver strategic research, competitive intelligence and technology projects that support the objectives of the R&I team, the broader Clients and Markets team, and the Firm's priorities.

  • Develop and manage structured project plans and timelines that define deliverables, related workstreams, individual responsibilities, and coordination requirements across teams.

  • Ensure the efficient and rigorous delivery of initiatives with R&I managers, partners, senior leadership, internal clients and cross-functional stakeholders to support alignment, implementation and adoption.

  • Manage initiatives from intake and scoping through implementation and evaluation, including appropriate governance, reporting, and post-project review.

  • Support the improvement of media monitoring, legal and legislative alerts, and competitive intelligence reporting activities by assessing appropriate technology tools and AI solutions, and guiding the development of practical solutions.

  • Promote communication, adoption and change management to encourage buy-in and sustained use of assigned initiatives.

Strategic analysis, AI and continuous improvement

  • Assess and support the adoption of AI-enabled research tools and processes, in collaboration with other managers.

  • Prepare and synthesize industry, legal, market, and competitive developments into executive-ready insights and practical recommendations for leadership.

  • Ensure assigned priorities, scope, and deliverables are aligned with the R&I Strategic Plan and evolving lawyers' needs.

  • Develop performance indicators, progress reports, and decision-support tools to inform planning and continuous improvement.

Interpersonal relations and change management

  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions, promote alignment and change management, and support effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development of the team's project and process management skills by sharing best practices, transferring knowledge and participating in training and development activities.

 Technology, data, and electronic resources

  • Manage projects related to technology tools, data analysis, performance indicators and reporting to support operational efficiency, budgeting and evolving business needs.

  • Contribute to the selection, evaluation, deployment and review of research and analysis resources, in close collaboration with R&I managers and team members as well as other functional group members.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Studies, LL.B./J.D., or degree in a related discipline.

  • MBA or Project Management certification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent, an asset.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in legal and/or competitive intelligence, project management or strategic operations, ideally acquired in a law firm or professional services environment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in independently managing complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Experience implementing project tracking, reporting, performance indicators and process improvements.

  • Ability to analyze data, trends and market issues in order to develop practical recommendations.

  • Strong organizational and priority management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience evaluating vendors, resources or solutions, an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with generative AI, Excel, PowerPoint and monitoring platforms.
  • Knowledge of financial and business platforms, such as Comp BI, Aderant and Salesforce, an asset.
