Are you ready to apply your engineering expertise to infrastructure that communities and industries depend on every day? Do you thrive in a role where technical problem-solving, regulatory awareness, and collaboration come together to support safe, resilient, and efficient energy delivery?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Engineer (Civil or Mechanical) to join our Gas Engineering Team in Syracuse, NY, supporting the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of critical transmission and distribution infrastructure for natural gas, petroleum, and related utility systems. This is an opportunity to help clients maximize the value of their assets, navigate complex regulatory environments, strengthen system reliability, and advance practical solutions that support the full lifecycle of essential energy infrastructure.

  • Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices that support regulatory compliance, safe operations, asset reliability, and system performance
  • Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays on critical gas infrastructure initiatives
  • Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments associated with natural gas, petroleum, and utility assets

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

  • Support essential energy infrastructure that helps clients improve reliability, maintain safe operations, and strengthen long-term system performance
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and technical teams on gas transmission, distribution, pipeline, conduit, maintenance, and asset integrity solutions
  • Build your technical expertise while helping advance resilient energy systems that serve communities and support a more reliable future
