Job description

Shift Days w/ Call Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 POSITION PURPOSE: This position-scrub tech- is a medical professional that assists surgeons and other surgical staff under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse in the operating room. They may help set up the operating room, prepare patients for surgery or adjust equipment as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Scrub techs have a variety of duties that they perform in the operating room:
  • Will secure all equipment and instrumentation for assigned operative cases.
  • Will assure sterile field is maintained and take appropriate action if it is not.
  • Will assist with pre-surgery and post-surgery counts to assure accuracy.
  • Assist in patient positioning, lighting adjustment, and can operate any needed equipment during surgical case.
  • Will anticipate appropriate instrumentation and hand off to surgeon and/or surgeon assistant.
  • Will assist with dressings and bandages as needed.
  • Following surgery, will prepare the used instrument/trays and will deliver to decontamination.
  • Will assist in turnover of room and restocking as needed.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position must have a scrub tech certification or must be a graduate of a scrub tech program upon hire and will successfully complete the scrub tech certification within 12 months of employment. Certification must be maintained throughout employment at CGH.
