Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Manufacturing Engineerโ€™s function is to support Operations at the site level with a focus on continuous improvements to ensure high levels of efficiency and product quality. This role is responsible for being the problem solvers to optimize a part through all the operations. This position will identify solutions to optimize efficiency while maintaining compliance to customers regulatory requirements. This position will work cross-functionally and collaboratively across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Troubleshoot production delays and constraints with equipment and processes.
  • Identify constraints and/or operational issues through line walks and other methods; work to solve and overcome through process improvements; collaborating with machinists and ops leaders
  • Identify, implement, and track continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Update and maintain CI Pipeline for visibility of projects identified, in process, and completed.
  • Identify variances in rates and work to develop and improved process to achieve quoted production rates.
  • Partner with Scheduler and Plant Manager on cycle times and setup times to ensure proper visibility of capacity.
  • Provide tooling recommendations to the shop floor and CNC programmers.
  • Recommend capital equipment and appropriate justifications.
  • Populate routing steps for rework and recert jobs.
  • Contribute to value-add discussions with customers.
  • Validate and implement tooling changes requested by Operations.
  • Collaborate with other sites to implement new found best practices.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience in Manufacturing required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of machining processes, tool and fixture design, time standards, and machine center capabilities. Engineering principals, tools, and concepts. Knowledge of project management principles. LEAN and/or Six Sigma certifications & training preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Experience using SolidWorks, CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, or related software.

SKILLS ABILITIES: Strong organizational, project management, Microsoft skills, and structured problem-solving ability. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with a wide variety of manufacturing personnel and at all other levels. Ability to work at a high velocity with minimal guidance.
