Job description


Walgreens Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is a postgraduate training opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their skill set in the community pharmacy setting. The residency is academically affiliated and financially supported, in part, by the Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. This residency will allow the pharmacist to build on their professional skills by providing a variety of patient care services.
Pharmacists in this setting will have a direct influence on outcomes for patients who are traditionally underserved in a rural area. Residents will enhance patient care through participation in transitions of care appointments, immunization services, and Medication Therapy Management/medication adherence. Residents complete off-site rotations in specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care.
The resident will complete a teaching certificate with Campbell University and engage in opportunities to advance leadership skills through partnerships with Walgreens leadership and the North Carolina Association of Pharmacy.
Resident Activities:
-Development of collaborative programs to improve patient adherence and outcomes
-Perform medication therapy management
-Assist in delivery of medication and disease-state education
-Conduct transitions of care visits in conjunction with a local primary care clinic
-Enhance current and develop new clinical patient care services and evaluate their sustainability
-Development of leadership and management skills
-Complete a teaching certificate program and assist with teaching and precepting experiences at the University
-Design, conduct, and present the results of a practice based research project
External Basic Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
  • Ability to obtain pharmacist license within the state of residency within the licensure requirement deadline
  • Submission of residency application materials to Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS)
  • Individuals must participate in and adhere to the rules of the ASHP Resident Matching Program.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
The current salary range for this position is $18.00 per hour - $31.00 per hour. The actual hourly salary within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors.
