Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of high-speed rotating equipment and centrifugal compressor systems. You will own mechanical design efforts across rotor systems, pressure-containing components, and auxiliary systems while supporting analysis, manufacturability, and testing. This is an opportunity to work on high-reliability, mission-critical rotating equipment and be exposed to complex engineering challenges in design, manufacturing, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of centrifugal compressor systems and major components.
• Design high-speed rotating assemblies, pressure casings, and structures.
• Perform engineering analysis including rotor dynamics, stress, fatigue, and thermal performance.
• Conduct vibration and modal analysis, and bearing load calculations.
• Create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
• Define specifications for bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers on machining, balancing, and material selection.
• Support prototype builds and testing, including overspeed, hydrostatic, leak, and run testing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot failures.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as API, UL, and IEC.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience in turbomachinery or compressor design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in designing mechanical systems, preferably for pressure equipment and rotating equipment.
• Understanding of rotor dynamics, bearings and seal systems, and pressure vessels/piping systems.
• Experience with CAD and FEA tools.
• Ability to create manufacturing drawings and specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with ANSYS, MATLAB, SolidWorks, and vibration analysis software.

Work Environment

The work environment is engineering-driven with collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams. It involves a mix of design work and hands-on prototype/test support. The pace is fast, highly technical, and innovation-focused, with an emphasis on reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cerritos,CA.
