Job description

Job Title: Sterile Processing Manager - Central Sterile / SPD

Location: Modesto, California 
Department: Sterile Processing
Job Type: Contract-to-Perm (13 Weeks to Permanent)
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week | 5x8-Hour Shifts
Compensation:

  • Up to $2,000/week (Travelers) - based on experience

  • Up to $1,720/week (Local candidates)


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager to lead and oversee a high-performing Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This leadership role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and consistent instrument availability to support surgical services.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, multi-shift management experience, and deep expertise in sterile processing and infection control standards.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage multi-shift Sterile Processing Department operations

  • Ensure instrument availability aligns with surgical schedules and demands

  • Maintain audit-ready compliance with sterilization and infection control standards

  • Develop and support supervisors and frontline staff to ensure accountability and performance

  • Drive improvements in quality, efficiency, and workflow processes

  • Oversee staffing models, scheduling, and operational metrics

  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented department culture

  • Collaborate with surgical and clinical teams to support high-acuity procedures

  • Monitor and improve department KPIs and performance outcomes


Required Qualifications
  • CRCST Certification (required)

  • CHL or CIS certification (preferred)

  • Minimum 5+ years of sterile processing experience

  • At least 3+ years in a leadership or management role

  • Strong knowledge of sterile processing regulations and infection control standards

  • Proven experience managing multi-shift teams and department operations

  • Demonstrated ability to lead supervisors and frontline teams effectively


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high-volume, high-acuity surgical environments

  • Strong leadership presence with focus on team engagement and accountability
