Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking to fill a summer internship position focused on the construction industry. Our ideal applicant is a
current student of an engineering or construction program. We do not require prior industry experience and are
looking for an aspiring student willing to learn the full cycle of the ready mix industry.
Primary Duties
• Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing
machinery or equipment.
• Disassemble, troubleshoot, and reassemble machinery or equipment
• Clean, lubricate/grease, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
• Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
• Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
• Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators to
diagnose equipment problems.
o VFDs, soft starts and PLCs are primary source of error messages
• Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials, as
necessary.
o Including the ability to read part diagrams and order the correct parts.
• Record repairs and maintenance performed.
• Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation
of machinery.
• Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new
equipment.
• Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
• Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
• Safety mindset at all times is a must.
• Maintain a clean environment at all plant locations, including your own workspace.
Secondary Duties:
• Run equipment including plants
• Shovel/clean areas as required
• Perform any role on sites as requested once trained on that job.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Must be able to work 12+ hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to read equipment operating manual
• Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection forms
• Must be able to read and interpret gauges
• Must be able to wear all required safety equipment & PPE
• Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers
regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Must be service orientated with proven ability to work in a TEAM environment
