Job Overview
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – CVOR provides specialized surgical support during cardiovascular procedures, ensuring the operating room is prepared, sterile, and equipped for complex cardiac surgeries. The CVOR Tech works closely with surgeons, perfusionists, nurses, and anesthesia providers to deliver safe and efficient patient care. Candidates must be comfortable working in both cardiovascular and general surgical settings due to daily floating requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrub independently for open-heart and cardiovascular surgical procedures.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment for cardiac surgeries.
- Assist surgeons during CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting), valve repairs/replacements, and other cardiovascular procedures.
- Assist with vein harvesting using open techniques and endoscopic techniques when applicable.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies efficiently.
- Ensure proper setup and handling of cardiovascular surgical instrumentation and equipment.
- Support procedures involving heart-lung bypass machines, cell saver technology, and other specialized CVOR equipment.
- Maintain compliance with sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- NBSTSA or NCCT is required
- Must have 2 years of consecutive experience in Cardiovascular surgery
- BLS (AHA)
- Recent CVOR experience with the ability to scrub open-heart cases independently.
- Must have Cardio Thoracic & Vascular exp;
