Job description

Job Summary
The Apprentice Recovery Pastor serves in a developmental role under the direct supervision of the Recovery Pastor. This position provides hands-on ministry training and leadership experience while assisting with the spiritual, pastoral, and operational needs of a Hope Center campus. The Apprentice Recovery Pastor will learn and support all areas of the recovery model with the goal of being equipped for future pastoral leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Recovery Pastor with daily pastoral care, discipleship, and counseling of residents.
  • Support the implementation of the four pillars of the recovery model: Discipleship, Admin, Families, and Culture.
  • Help lead resident devotions, chapel services, and group discussions.
  • Participate in admissions, disciplinary processes, and phase advancement reviews under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and assist with CRM logging.
  • Provide encouragement, prayer, and biblical support to residents and families.
  • Assist in organizing graduations, family weekends, and ministry events.
  • Support volunteer engagement and church partnerships alongside the Recovery Pastor.
  • Learn leadership development through coaching, observation, and practice.
  • Carry out responsibilities in alignment with Hope Center Ministries' mission and values.

Qualifications
  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and evidence of spiritual maturity.
  • Desire to grow into pastoral leadership within recovery ministry.
  • Strong biblical foundation and willingness to learn biblical counseling methods.
  • Effective communicator and relational with residents, families, and staff.
  • Organized and teachable with a servant-hearted attitude.
  • Previous ministry, volunteer, or leadership experience preferred but not required.

  • Desire to shepherd and disciple others.
  • Ability to listen, encourage, and support residents in recovery.
  • Team player with humility and willingness to follow direction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to grow in leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Spiritual Requirements
  • Must affirm and live in alignment with Hope Center Ministries' Statement of Faith.
  • Committed to personal integrity, prayer, and accountability.
  • Lifestyle consistent with biblical standards of leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1).

Other Requirements
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.

Qualifications & Expectations
    • A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle aligned with biblical standards.
    • Agreement with the Statement of Faith, Lifestyle Statement, and mission of Hope Center Ministries.
    • Ministry license - New hires will be begin the ministry license process immediately upon hire.
    • Advanced knowledge of the Bible and a heart for discipleship.
    • Familiarity with Celebrate Recovery's 12 Steps and 8 Principles.
    • Basic understanding of addiction, human behavior, and lay counseling.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to resolve conflict biblically and compassionately.
    • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Willingness to submit to background checks and reference screenings.
