Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), diagnostic testing tools, and public health data analysis software is typically required. Exceptional analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams are important soft skills in this role. These qualifications and skills are crucial for effectively monitoring zoonotic diseases, implementing public health interventions, and protecting both animal and human health.

How does a CDC Veterinary professional typically collaborate with other public health specialists during an outbreak investigation?

CDC Veterinary professionals often work closely with epidemiologists, laboratory scientists, and local health departments during outbreak investigations. They contribute their expertise in animal health to help identify zoonotic disease sources, conduct field investigations, and analyze data related to animal populations. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as veterinary professionals must share findings, coordinate sampling efforts, and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to inform public health responses. This collaborative environment fosters learning and provides valuable experience for career advancement within public health.
