The Technical Sales Manager role is a hybrid position that blends the relationship-building and business development strengths of a Sales Representative with the deep technical acumen of a Sales Engineer. This individual is responsible for driving revenue growth, supporting channel partners, and delivering customized security solutions that meet complex client needs. Success in this role requires a strong foundation in CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and integrated security technologies, paired with the ability to communicate value effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, technically proficient, and capable of managing key accounts while providing hands-on support throughout the sales and implementation process. This is a home-based remote position that requires frequent travel by car.

What are the key responsibilities?

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across commercial, industrial, and public sector markets.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, solution development, proposal delivery, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed assigned quarterly and annual sales targets.

Technical Consultation

  • Conduct on-site evaluations to assess customer requirements for security systems, including CCTV, access control, video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection, and integrated solutions.
  • Design and present customized security solutions that align with client needs and industry best practices.
  • Prepare technical documentation, system schematics, and cost estimates in coordination with the engineering and pre-sales support teams.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients throughout pre-sale engagement, implementation, and post-sale support phases.
  • Deliver technical product demonstrations and solution presentations to technical and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Provide responsive support and consultation to ensure long-term client satisfaction and retention.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams, including project management, engineering, logistics, and procurement, to ensure accurate and timely project execution and client fulfillment.
  • Facilitate regular communication between sales, technical, and operations teams to align priorities, share client feedback, and ensure a seamless customer experience.

Training & Industry Knowledge

  • Stay informed on evolving security technologies, regulatory standards, and competitive landscape to maintain technical credibility.
  • Lead field-based training sessions for dealer and distributor partners, enabling them to confidently position, install, and support the company’s solutions.

What You’ll Need (Required)

Technical background equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in engineering and technical support.
  • Must be prepared for travel 50%-75% of the time.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License with Acceptable Driving Record.

What Else We Look For (Preferred)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from accredited four-year college or university.

  • 3-5 Years of experience and familiarity in surveillance, IP camera, DVRs, electronics equipment, and instrument-related industry.
  • Self-motivated with a proven track record in CCTV, computer networks, and knowledge of technology.
  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports.
  • Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive technical approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of core technologies and solutions concepts.
  • Demonstrated success and leadership in project management
  • Demonstrated effective leadership competencies.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to attain business objectives.
  • Advanced level PC skills to include MS Office and MS Project.

What is the compensation and benefits

The On-Target Earnings (Base + Commission) range for this position is $105,000.00 - $175,000.00 (highly experienced).
