Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in the nation, Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital is a Magnet-designated facility that provides exceptional nursing and advanced medical, surgical, emergency, obstetric and critical care services for patients throughout the greater Grosse Pointe area. This facility is home to The James and Patricia Anderson Surgical Center, a leading-edge, hybrid surgical unit that offers advanced technologies to perform a wide array of procedures ranging from traditional to minimally invasive approaches. And, the Cotton Family Birth Center has received the Baby Friendly designation by Baby-Friendly USA.

About the Unit

A 39-bed unit, Critical Care Step Down is committed to providing high quality patient and family centered care for patient populations with various medical conditions including pulmonary, cardiac, neurological disorders, and post-operative care for the surgical patient who requires a higher level of nursing care. CCSU also cares for ventilated tracheostomy patients.

All unit staff attends both hospital and nursing orientation and receives unit-specific orientation. Unit and core competencies are completed during the orientation process. Our team consists of RNs and NAs, and teamwork is critical for building a cohesive nursing unit.

Job Summary

The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree or higher. Diploma, A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., DNP/PhD - if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN within specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations. RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within the next five (5) years. This is effective April 18, 2023.
  • Graduates from non-accredited school of nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or greater than 2 years of experience in a licensed health care role, such as an LPN or EMT role, etc., and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • As required by job posting. Required:
    • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
    • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association required
    • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Critical Care, Emergency Care, Pre-Op and PACU, Radiology 180 Days required
