CCMAs play a crucial role in ensuring that medical offices and clinics run smoothly and that patients receive quality care. They are trained to work in a variety of settings, including physician offices, urgent care centers, and outpatient clinics.

What does a CCMA do?

The job of a certified clinical medical assistant (CCMA) is to assist a physician with clinical treatments or procedures. Their responsibilities include helping prepare for exams by taking the vital signs and medical histories of patients. Other common duties of a certified clinical medical assistant are to prepare exam rooms and order supplies. While someone in this position may perform routine clerical work like completing and filing forms, scheduling appointments, and faxing documents to insurance companies or other caregivers, this role focuses primarily on clinical tasks. Qualifications for a CCMA include certification, which requires a high school degree or GED certificate and completion of a training program.

What are some common challenges faced by a CCMA in a fast-paced healthcare environment?

As a CCMA, you may often juggle multiple responsibilities such as patient intake, administering medications, and assisting with minor procedures, all while maintaining accurate documentation.
