Job description

Apprenticely is working with our company partner, the Eras Women's Health to add a Medical Assistant Intern to their team in Fayetteville, Arkansas!
Our Apprenticely Internship Program is a three-month program that places selected candidates with employers across Arkansas in IT positions to gain experience under the guidance of a professional mentor/IT support team. Internships are designed as an on-ramp to an IT career and can roll into full-time positions based on employer demand.
About our Company Partner:
Eras is a modern, women-led clinic reimagining hormonal, gynecologic, and primary care for women across every era of life. Built by women who wanted something better, we blend board-certified clinical expertise with longer visits, an empathetic and collaborative care team, and a one-stop model that treats the whole woman - not just her symptoms.
Based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, our APRN-led practice brings together primary care, gynecology, and longevity services under one roof, creating a personalized experience that evolves with each patient's needs. We listen first, partner always, and believe every woman deserves care that's personal, preventive, and participatory.
About the role:
The Medical Assistant (MA) at Eras Women's Health is a key member of our clinical support team, working under the direct supervision of the Lead RN and clinical providers. This role is essential to delivering smooth, high-quality patient experiences across routine gynecological visits, in-office procedures, and primary care for women. The MA is the front line of patient interaction - responsible for rooming, vital signs, chart preparation, patient communication, and day-to-day clinical coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Room all patients efficiently: escort to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and prepare patients for examination or procedures.
  • Turn over exam rooms between patients to maintain smooth clinic flow.
  • Complete chart preparation by opening encounter notes, beginning documentation, and reviewing patient intake forms as needed.
  • Assist with advance chart preparation by entering intake information into clinical profiles.
  • Draw labs and collect specimens as directed by clinical staff and if within scope.
  • Assist providers, clinic nurse, and/or lead RN during examinations and in-office gynecological procedures (e.g., chaperoning, instrument handling, patient comfort, and education).
  • Support phlebotomy and specimen collection; process, handle, and route laboratory samples per clinic protocols.
  • Administer IM/SubQ injections per provider order and under direct provider supervision, consistent with Arkansas Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Sterilize and maintain equipment per infection-control protocols.
  • Review and process patient letters and correspondence for providers.
  • Assist with prior authorizations for routine medications, procedures, and referrals under provider guidance.
  • Sort and integrate outside care records (from external providers, labs, or imaging) into patient charts.
  • Track and maintain stock of medical supplies to keep exam rooms and storage areas fully stocked.

Qualifications:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred; candidates with demonstrated clinical experience considered.
  • Experience in a clinical ambulatory, primary care, or women's health setting preferred.
  • Phlebotomy competency and comfort with specimen collection and processing.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced clinic day.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and basic administrative tools (Excel or equivalent).
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills - our team heavily emphasizes patient experience and customer service.
  • Willingness to grow with the clinic as service offerings and team structure evolve.

Key Certifications & Training
  • Certified Medical Assistant - CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), or equivalent - preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
  • Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated experience
  • Women's health or gynecology clinical experience - preferred

Details
  • Schedule: 40-hour week: typically 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Length of Internship: 3 months - Goal is for it to role into long term
  • Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas

$16 - $22 an hour
