EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed. The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer 'remote only' assignments.
Compensation/Benefits
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

• Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) and as documented in application materials. Initial Step placement will be at Step 1 pending evaluation of experience as outlined in the AFA Contract
• Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
A. Student Contact-Related Duties for Athletic Training Faculty (Scheduled for an average of 75% of total athletic training load over the course of the term.)

1. Under the direction of a licensed physician and in accordance with their training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations, provides effective and efficient athletic training services for student athletes in California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) intercollegiate sports activities for injuries and illness incurred during SRJC-sanctioned CCCAA activities.
2. Implements measures to prevent and/or mitigate injury, illness and long-term disability.
3. Provides care procedures used in acute and/or emergency settings.
4. Utilizes patient history and appropriate physical examination procedures to determine the patient's impairments, diagnosis, level of function and disposition.
5. Provides the appropriate referrals to outside providers such as Student Health Services, community physicians, physical therapy, mental health specialists, and other medical specialists as needed based on the CCCAA student-athlete injury or illness.
6. Assists with pre-participation examinations when appropriate and necessary.
7. Determines appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and/or reconditioning strategies.
8. Educates student-athletes about their injuries and illnesses, treatment plans and prognoses.
9. Assists in supervising and mentoring pre-sports medicine students and volunteers.
10. Provide coverage and care during home events, travel football games and other travel as outlined in the CCCAA Constitution or as assigned by the Supervising Administrator and scheduled by the Head Athletic Trainer.
11. Provides care for visiting team student-athletes in accordance with CCCAA Bylaws.

B. Other Required Duties for Athletic Training Faculty

1. Maintains Board of Certification Athletic Trainer certification.
2. Maintains proper and detailed documentation for services rendered.
3. Follows all CCCAA rules including Bylaw 9, Medical Policies.
4. Follows all SRJC Athletic Training Program policies and procedures.
5. Assists CCCAA student-athletes with insurance claims for qualifying injuries/illnesses.
6. Helps maintain the Athletic Training Clinic in a clean and sanitary condition.
7. Communicates medical clearance status of student-athletes with coaches.
8. Participates in coach emergency preparedness training program including but not limited to concussion, mental health, athletic emergency, heat illness.
9. Maintains online medical documentation systems (per the Health Information and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other appropriate standards.
10. Works with team physicians in collaboration with Health Services.

SELECTION PROCESS: If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Kinesiology, Athletics and Dance (KAD) Department offers a comprehensive, well-rounded program to meet the needs of our diverse student population. The department offers an Associate Degree for Transfer in Kinesiology and an Associate of Arts degree in both Kinesiology and Sports Medicine Preparation. To meet workforce demand, the department offers three career education certificate programs in Fitness, Pilates, and Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training Instruction. A wide variety of activity classes accommodate students ranging in age from high school students to senior adults. The department also has lecture-based courses in Kinesiology, Health and Wellness, and Sports Medicine, as well as 17 varsity intercollegiate sports.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess the minimum qualifications exactly as listed below for disciplines of interest or file for in order to be considered. Required:
Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience;
OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience;
OR the equivalent.
Additional Requirements, Must Be Met Before Time of Hire:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an entry-level athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) AND certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) as an athletic trainer AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience. Candidates must have proof of current CPR with AED and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Currency of certifications must be maintained with no lapse. (CPR with AED and First Aid Certification must be completed by the start of assignment but is not necessary to qualify for interview.
