Manager, Engineering - Water
The Venue Infrastructure (VNI) team plays a critical role in delivering Games-specific temporary infrastructure for competition and non-competition venues to ensure that they are functional, innovative, and fully accessible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of the larger Sport and Games Delivery group, the VNI team ensures that all venues are designed, developed, and delivered with the highest standards for functionality, sustainability, and inclusion.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering - HVAC, this role will be responsible for the coordination, planning, design, and construction oversight of temporary water infrastructure across all venues, including management of external and internal engineering resources.
The Manager, Engineering - Water will coordinate publication of design packages through project milestones of stakeholder review, procurement, and permitting. Collaboration across the LA28 organization will be done to meet cost, scheduling and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop temporary water infrastructure strategy to support Games Operations across all venues
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders' requirements to develop cost effective solutions to meet games time requirements
  • Lead water infrastructure design to meet schedule milestones
  • Oversee external resources to deliver on workstream responsibilities
  • Provide training and support for delivery teams to effectively operate water infrastructure during Games Operations
  • Support cross-functional initiatives including Permitting, Risk Management, Procurement, and Health & Safety
Background & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 5+ years experience developing design documentation such as piping layouts, load calculations, equipment selection, specifications, and controls
  • Experience with key industry codes, local regulations, and coordination with utility service providers
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering collaboration tools and software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Forma, Bluebeam, Procore, etc.)
Expectations:
  • Detail oriented with excellent command of productivity and collaboration tools (Office360, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Autodesk Construction Cloud etc.)
  • Present information concisely to wide audience of internal stakeholders, external contractors and advisors, and governmental agencies
  • Ability to manage external consultants to meet project goals
  • Ability to work within a complex and demanding environment with many stakeholders while maintaining strong relationships
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • Venue site visits requiring movement around varying environmental conditions in interior and exterior spaces.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000.00 - $155,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
