Job description

The Applications Engineer serves as a technical authority on Cattron products and solutions, providing expertise in product application, system design, and industry standards. This role is responsible for designing and configuring radio remote control systems that meet customer requirements while ensuring compliance with technical specifications and operational objectives.
The Applications Engineer works closely with customers, sales, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and service teams throughout the design, integration, and implementation process. Responsibilities include creating custom engineering designs, developing software configurations, generating bills of materials, and providing technical support during installation and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
โ€ข Design radio remote control systems based on customer requirements and project specifications.
โ€ข Develop detailed electrical schematics and system documentation using AutoCAD Electrical for both Operator Control Units (OCU) and Machine Control Units (MCU).
โ€ข Create and maintain comprehensive engineering drawings and technical documentation for each customer order.
โ€ข Develop and configure custom software solutions using proprietary Cattron programming tools. PLC programming experience is preferred.
โ€ข Review and validate automated bills of materials generated through AutoCAD Electrical to ensure accuracy and completeness.
โ€ข Create and maintain order-specific bills of materials and labor estimates within the company ERP system.
Technical Support & Collaboration
โ€ข Provide technical expertise and support across assigned product lines to internal departments, including sourcing, manufacturing, quality assurance, inspection, and testing.
โ€ข Assist production and testing teams in the successful build, verification, and validation of products.
โ€ข Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving application-related issues.
โ€ข Provide customer technical support throughout product integration and commissioning activities.
Customer Engagement
โ€ข Review customer requirements, requests for quotation (RFQs), and application specifications to recommend appropriate product solutions.
โ€ข Collaborate directly with customers to develop customized solutions that meet operational and performance requirements.
โ€ข Support sales and business development efforts by providing technical guidance during the proposal and order fulfillment process.
โ€ข Travel to customer sites as required to support installation, startup, commissioning, and training activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
โ€ข Minimum of five (5) years of engineering or technical application experience.
โ€ข Strong understanding of electrical control systems and industrial automation.
โ€ข Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database systems.
โ€ข Experience interpreting technical specifications, schematics, and engineering drawings.
โ€ข Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
โ€ข Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
โ€ข Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Experience with radio remote control systems, industrial controls, or material handling equipment.
โ€ข Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
โ€ข Experience with PLC programming and industrial communication protocols.
โ€ข Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering change processes.
โ€ข Understanding of manufacturing and shop-floor operations
Work Environment & Schedule
โ€ข Full-time position based at Cattron World Headquarters in Warren, Ohio.
โ€ข Standard daylight shift schedule.
โ€ข Hybrid work arrangement currently available, allowing employees to work remotely 2-3 days per week, subject to business needs and company policy.
โ€ข Occasional overtime may be required to support customer orders, project deadlines, or special assignments.
โ€ข Travel may be required to support customer installations, commissioning, and technical service activities.
