Job description

Position Title: Associate Director of Catholic Identity and Mission 

Reports to: Director of Catholic Identity and Mission 

Employment Classification: Full-time (12-month), Exempt 

Start Date: July 1, 2026

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Catholic Identity and Mission serves as a Catholic, mission-driven leader responsible for the development, alignment, and execution of Catholic Identity and Mission (CIM) initiatives across Seton schools and parishes, with primary responsibility for leading and managing the SPARK educators and Faith ARCS. Grounded in a deep commitment to Christ and the Catholic Church, this role advances a vibrant Catholic culture by forming leaders who animate faith through Word, Sacrament, culture, and curriculum. The Assistant Director ensures that Catholic identity is not only visible, but transformational—impacting students, staff, families, and the broader community.

Purpose:

The primary role or purpose of the Assistant Director of Catholic Identity and Mission is collaborating with the SPARK teachers to enhance the Catholic identity of the school, support the faith life of the faculty, staff, and students, and support the mission and ministry of the Catholic school and parish. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Primary SPARK Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and support all Catholic Identity and Mission SPARK staff across Seton schools.
  • Develop clear expectations, goals, and accountability structures for SPARK roles aligned with CIM priorities and Faith ARCS.
  • Conduct regular SPARK coaching meetings, observations, and support in areas of need. 
  • Facilitate monthly SPARK formation meetings and ongoing professional development.
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in the implementation of SPARK responsibilities across all campuses.
  • Present to Seton Level Team 2x per year for performance reviews

Faith ARCS

  • Oversee the development and execution of Faith ARCS at each school, including tracking data for school and network accountability. 
  • Support SPARK leaders in planning and implementing retreats, professional development, prayer experiences, and service projects for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ensure the visible and lived presence of Catholic identity in all schools (e.g., prayer spaces, mission integration, environment).

Liturgy & Sacramental Life

  • Guide SPARK leaders in planning and executing the liturgical calendar (Advent, Lent, feast days, etc.).
  • Collaborate with pastors and parish staff to strengthen school-parish relationships.
  • Ensure strong student engagement in liturgical roles and sacramental preparation processes.

Curriculum & Instructional Support

  • Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure high-quality Religion instruction aligned with Church teaching.
  • Support curriculum review, selection, and implementation in Religion classes. 
  • Assist in integrating Catholic Social Teaching, Seton values, and the Seton Scriptural Theme across all subject areas.
  • Assist academic leaders and teachers in planning and execution of Religion curriculum, and support in areas of need. 

Collaboration & System Leadership

  • Partner with school leaders, Director of Catholic Identity and Mission, and other Seton leaders to align mission initiatives.
  • Support system-wide events, including retreats, professional development, and Lilly Grant initiatives. 
  • Assist in implementing Archdiocesan initiatives (e.g., Circle of Grace, assessments, STM formation

Essential Qualities & Expectations 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with a strong commitment to the Church’s mission.
  • Demonstrates a vibrant personal prayer life and commitment to ongoing spiritual growth.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple schools and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations across differing schools, and occasionally for professional development. 
  • Experience in Catholic education and/or ministry leadership.
  • Experience in adult formation, coaching, or instructional leadership preferred. 
  • Familiarity with the National Catholic Standards and Benchmarks.
