Job description

We are seeking a motivated and faith-filled Intern to join our team and gain meaningful experience within the Diocese of Arlington. This internship offers the opportunity to support the mission of our organization, grow professionally and spiritually, and contribute to the projects that serve our broader community.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Arlington Catholic Herald (www.catholicherald.com) is the official newspaper of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington and supports the Church's mission to evangelize by providing news from a Catholic perspective.
The Intern will support the Herald's work by undertaking and completing a variety of projects and assignments principally on behalf of the editorial staff. This is a paid internship of 35 hours a week with a tentative start date Sept. 14, 2026, ending in December 2026. This position will be based onsite in Arlington, VA.
Pay rate: $17.00.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
  • Help the editorial staff increase efficiency and productivity by carrying out a range of initiatives, including:
    • Propose, write and edit content for CatholicHerald.com and/or the print edition of the newspaper
    • Write and edit content for Catholic Herald social media channels
    • Research and edit articles
    • Support the layout and production process for the print edition
    • Cover diocesan events as needed
  • Assist the advertising and circulation departments occasionally as warranted
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • College student actively pursuing (or recent college graduate with) an undergraduate degree in journalism or a related field
    • Strong writing, editing, and digital/social media skills
    • Extraordinary attention to detail
    • Previous experience working for a media publication preferred
    • Must be a fully initiated and practicing Catholic.
