Job Details
The General Accounting team is seeking a motivated, effective and energetic leader to join Corporate Finance leadership in the managing of our team of staff and the related day-to-day accounting functions. General Accounting is part of the Corporate Finance team, which handles the centralized accounting function for all of Catholic Health (CH), which includes six hospitals, three nursing homes, continuing care facilities, physician practices, foundations and corporate and shared services. Our team of accountants work closely with the other members of the Finance team, both within the department and at the aforementioned facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises a team of General Accounting staff, which includes both senior and staff accountants and analysts, in both an in-person and remote setting
  • Reviews journal entries, financial statement schedules, and workpapers prepared by senior and staff accountants for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with primary focus on balance sheet and expense accounts
  • Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assists in gathering information and workpapers for financial statement audits, grant audits, tax returns, and other reporting requirements
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects, as requested
  • Develop staff by participating in performance reviews, goal setting and trainings throughout the year

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting required.
  • Requires five to seven years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge mandatory
  • Willingness to learn and ability to think creatively to come up with solutions
  • Position will require overtime for certain periods of the year

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant healthcare experience preferred.
  • Managerial or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Certification by State Board of Certified Public Accountants preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lawson, Essbase and Epic a plus

Posted Salary Range
USD $115,000.00 - USD $125,000.00 /Yr.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
