St. Thomas More Parish

Full Time - Non Exempt


Summary

St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking to fill the position of Accountant. This position plays a vital role in helping manage the financial operations of the parish and school. The Accountant will assist with parish financial statements, budget reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, year-end reporting, and any audit requirements.


Essential Duties

  • Assist Director of Operations in creating and managing parish and school budget.
  • Process accounts receivable and payable and corresponding general ledger entries.
  • Create invoices and bills for clients.
  • Make bank deposits.
  • Process payroll.
  • Track and monitor financial transactions.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software.
  • Reconcile all general ledger accounts, including tuition revenue, payroll liabilities, etc.
  • Record and reconcile parishioner contributions to general ledger.
  • Send annual contribution statements to parishioners.
  • Process weekly offertory deposits according to audit requirements.
  • Prepare budget and financial reports for Pastor and Finance Council.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping or related field
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in QuickBooks or similar accounting software


Active Catholic in good standing is preferred, though familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is required.
