Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) - Cath Lab Technologist

The Cath Lab Technologist supports interventional cardiology procedures by preparing the lab, assisting with imaging guidance, and maintaining sterile technique.

They work in hospital cath labs, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other imaging staff to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the catheterization laboratory for procedures and ensure sterility
  • Assist physicians during coronary angiography and interventional procedures
  • Operate imaging equipment and capture fluoroscopic images
  • Monitor patient condition and assist with sedation under supervision
  • Maintain equipment readiness and perform routine quality checks
  • Document procedure details and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with post-procedure care and room turnover
Qualifications

Education: Associate degree in cardiovascular technology or radiologic technology; program completion from an accredited program.

Licensure: Certification as a CV Lab Technologist; state requirements may apply.

Certifications:

  • RCIS or ARRT-based CV/IR imaging certification preferred
  • BLS and ACLS

Experience or Skills: Experience in interventional cardiac imaging and procedure support; strong teamwork and communication skills.
