What are Cath Lab Technologists?

Cath Lab Technologists, also known as Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Technologists, are specialized healthcare professionals who assist physicians during procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions. They operate sophisticated imaging equipment to help visualize the arteries and chambers of the heart. Their responsibilities include preparing patients, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the procedures. Cath Lab Technologists play a critical role in cardiac care teams, working closely with doctors and nurses during interventions like angioplasties and stent placements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cath Lab Technologist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cath Lab Technologist, you need in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular procedures, anatomy, and sterile technique, typically supported by an associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or a related field and relevant certification (such as RCIS).
