Job description

Howmet Aerospace, Engines currently seeks a dynamic Process Engineer to fill the role of Process Owner - Core! The position will be located in Whitehall, Michigan across our Plants 1 and 3, and 10 as part of the Whitehall Casting Operation.

Job Responsibilities

  • 25% Travel expected to the Morristown, TN Core Manufacturing Facililty

  • Development and improvement of core processes

  • Assistance in the implementation of quality programs

  • Review and monitoring of core quality metrics

  • % Scrap produced, quality standard

  • Prepares periodic reports on the activities carried out

  • Review and prepare Core area procedures

  • Analyze service and production standards and limitations

  • Restructure PCs for easy understanding

  • Interact with quality and support departments on quality issues and specifications requested in Core processes

  • Interpret PCs, acceptable guides and defects

  • Help Casting plants, Clients and/or Suppliers with Core problems

  • Find solutions to maintain product flow

  • Support and implement continuous improvement projects to improve quality and production standards

  • Maintain communication with clients and suppliers to ensure the quality of the core product

  • Report defects and questions to the supplier for investigation

  • Perform all assigned functions as required by the engineering manager of the core area

  • Provide support in the correct development of engineering projects


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, or Industrial
  • Experience working in a Casting or Core Manufacturing environment
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment or lab environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organizations skills
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and scientific methods for problem solving
