Job Description

The EVS/Custodian Manager provides direct and general supervision to effectively manage the EVS and Marine teams to ensure a clean, safe and sanitary environment at Belterra Casino Resort while also supporting the vision of Boyd Gaming.

The EVS/Custodian Manager:

  • Delivers internal and external guest service.  Always exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor by being polite and courteous when speaking with guests and team members. 
  • Looks for and acts upon opportunities to assist guests and team members. 
  • Staffs, schedules, evaluates, trains, develops and monitors team members. 
  • Recommends wage increases, promotions, demotions, discipline, performance reviews and other employment actions for team members.
  • Understands department objectives, standards, guidelines and budgets to achieve effective supervision of department; adjusts daily schedule according to business levels and workload.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors department standards, guidelines, and objectives, and maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning and efficient operation of department.
  • Directs and ensures the maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation in both the Front of House and Back of House areas on both land and vessel.
  • Manages inventory of cleaning supplies, PPE, chemicals and equipment.
  • Manages the distribution of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
  • Conducts safety training (e.g., handling hazardous waste, using chemicals).
  • Monitors quality of work and conduct routine inspections.  Directs and inspects all cleanliness projects; makes decisions for necessary corrective action in order to maintain company and health department standards.
  • Coordinates with other departments on cleaning schedules to avoid disruption of the operation.
  • Addresses service requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinates and directs work on assigned shift to ensure areas of the property are clean, sanitized and maintained in accordance with company and health department standards.
  • Ensures all machinery is operated in accordance with manufacturers operating instructions and properly cleaned at the end of the day/shift and is serviced periodically.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid gaming license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning and sanitation standards for hotel public areas, casino floors (including high-touch surfaces), kitchens and food and beverage outlets, restrooms and pool.
  • Experience with deep cleaning machinery, including floor and carpet cleaning equipment, sanitation, chemicals, and general cleaning tools and equipment required. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
     

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education or equivalent and two years of environmental services, housekeeping or custodial management experience with two to four years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience is hospitality, hotel operations or casino environments is preferred.  Familiarity with a 24/7 operation and managing teams across multiple shifts.
