We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a growing construction organization in Austin, TX. This individual will oversee all accounting and financial operations while partnering closely with executive leadership and project teams to support profitability, cash flow management, and strategic growth initiatives.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Monitor project job costing, budget-to-actual analysis, profitability reporting, and forecasting
  • Review and analyze project performance, change orders, retainage, billings, and contract compliance
  • Partner with project managers and operations leadership to improve financial performance and project visibility
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Develop and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
  • Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors and tax professional
  • Generate financial reports and operational dashboards for executive leadership

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within the construction industry
  • Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Construction Accountant
  • Strong understanding of
  • Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule
  • Percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Job cost accounting
  • Construction financial reporting
  • Change orders and retainage management
  • Experience with Spectrum/Viewpoint ERP required
