Job description

Strategic Legal Practices, APC (SLP) is a leading plaintiff-side consumer protection litigation firm headquartered in Century City, Los Angeles. We specialize in lemon law and consumer advocacy, fighting on behalf of clients against some of the largest manufacturers in the country. With over 100 team members across legal, operations, data, and client services, SLP moves fast, litigates aggressively, and wins. We are growing โ€” and we're looking for professionals who match our standard.

This is not a traditional administrative role. The Legal Case Manager / Executive Assistant provides direct operational and litigation support to a Partner of the firm, functioning as a critical extension of Partner-level leadership on active consumer protection matters. The right candidate brings legal case management expertise, precise deadline discipline, and a high-output work ethic to a demanding, fast-paced environment.

This role requires someone who can own their workload without hand-holding โ€” drafting professional legal correspondence, managing complex court calendars, tracking multi-deadline litigation timelines, and keeping cases moving from filing through resolution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Litigation & Case Management

  • Serve as the primary case management resource for the Partner on all active litigation matters, tracking case status from inception through resolution
  • Monitor court dockets daily and maintain a master litigation calendar covering all deadlines, hearings, depositions, CMCs, MSJ deadlines, and statutory lemon law timelines
  • Draft, prepare, and coordinate e-filing of pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and related litigation documents
  • Manage case logistics including deposition scheduling, vendor coordination, court communications, and service of process
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready electronic case files and trial preparation materials

Executive & Administrative Support

  • Manage the Partner's Outlook calendar with precision โ€” scheduling depositions, hearings, internal meetings, and client calls while proactively resolving conflicts
  • Triage and prioritize the Partner's inbox, draft professional correspondence, and ensure timely responses on all action items
  • Track and follow up on open action items across cases and matters to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
  • Coordinate across internal departments (scheduling, docketing, intake) to ensure seamless case progression
  • Communicate professionally with courts, opposing counsel, clients, and third-party vendors on behalf of the Partner

WHAT SETS YOU APART

You don't wait to be told what needs to happen next โ€” you already know. You track deadlines like your professional reputation depends on it, because it does. You draft clean, professional correspondence without needing multiple rounds of edits. You communicate proactively, flag issues early, and follow through on every action item. If this describes how you already work, you'll thrive here.

Compliance & Documentation

Maintain accurate billing records and assist with time-entry review and fee motion support

Ensure court filing deadlines are met without exception โ€” proactively flagging conflicts or risks well in advance

Uphold firm documentation standards and support compliance workflows as directed

WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS

  • High-volume, production-oriented role with clear caseload benchmarks and quality standards.
  • Daily interaction with attorneys and legal staff; professional, responsive communication is essential.
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods or to meet critical deadlines.
  • Strict confidentiality regarding sensitive client and legal information is required at all times.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in a law firm as a legal assistant, case manager, paralegal, or executive assistant โ€” law firm experience is non-negotiable
  • Demonstrated experience managing litigation deadlines and court calendars in a high-volume environment
  • Proficiency drafting legal correspondence, pleadings, and litigation support documents
  • Strong Microsoft Outlook calendaring and scheduling skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail โ€” deadline misses are not an option in this role
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Professional discretion when handling confidential client and litigation matters

Preferred

  • Experience in consumer protection, lemon law, personal injury, or civil litigation
  • Familiarity with California state and federal court e-filing procedures (CM/ECF, One Legal)
  • Experience with case management software or legal docketing platforms

Benefits
