Job description

We have a new opening for a Registered Nurse - Case Manager at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, TX .

Core Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Interact with providers, USAF units, military treatment facilities, certification/waiver authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct case management, as defined by the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), Standards of Practice for Case Management & Defense Health Agency Procedural Instruction (DHAPI) 6025.2
  • Medical management; Continuously engage patient members, their military organization (their unit) & other stakeholders, regarding medical records, authorizations, approvals, care/treatment, care/treatment-plans & appointments, supporting services, and health-evaluations to ensure effective care and effective case-management for the service member.
  • Provide medical & policy expertise on (MEDCON) programs; Ensure prompt recovery, expeditious Return to Duty (RTD), or entry into the Disability Evaluation System (DES).
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct research, analyze pertinent data, and develop sound recommendations/action plans to solve problems.
  • Ability to provide advice and guidance to aid service members in the MEDCON program.
  • Make independent judgment with reference to various references, publications, memorandums, or other documentation to successfully manage medical cases and determine handling of MEDCON cases.
  • Collaboration with the patient, family/caregiver, primary provider and other members of the health care team for developing an effective plan of care.
  • Shall utilize the following existing software programs, and/or their replacements if phased out during employment:  Sales-Force via my FSS, Aeromedical Service Information Management System (ASIMS), Electronic Case Tracking (ECT), Medical Electronic Data for Care History and Readiness Tracking (MEDCHART), PO630 PowerChart, MHS-Genesis, Air National Guard Reserve Order Writing System (AROWS), Air Force Reserve Order Writing System (AROWS-R), Microsoft TEAMS, Joint Longitudinal viewer (JLV), Veterans Tracking Application (VTA), and any future software developed for the program by the Department of Defense (DOD) or Service Components.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:30am and 4:30pm, including a one hour lunch

No weekends or holidays

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree: Possess an Associates or Bachelors degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of full-time recent experience as a RN Case Manager.

Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse 

Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
