Job description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable individual to provide case management and administrative support to Old Dominion Court Services. This position will conduct intakes for pretrial defendants and probationers, monitor pending cases, and coordinate with judges, court staff, and other court personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and be comfortable handling sensitive information.

What You'll Do: As a Case Officer, you will: Complete intakes of defendants who report directly from the Magistrate or Courts. Run a criminal history using the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN), performing data entry of the placement. Interview the defendant or probationer, conducting a drug analysis and completing a risk assessment.

Document all interactions in the case files and the Pretrial & Community Corrections case management system (PTCC). Monitor compliance of inactive cases due to transfer-out status and long-term pending cases due to incarceration. Schedule appointments and return phone calls in a timely manner and assist Pretrial/Probation Officers with drug analysis and case filing.

Testify in court. Complete data entry of placements, including making copies, scanning files, and assisting the Chief in data management and statistics. What We're Looking For: Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

Must be able to obtain a Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification through the Virginia State Police. Must be able to effectively manage time and priorities, handle stressful situations, and provide exemplary client services while also being able to de-escalate emotionally charged individuals. Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Able to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Supplemental Information Physical Demands: This position requires typing, sitting for long periods, standing, walking, bending/stooping. Physical lifting of up to 20 pounds is sometimes required. Travel is required for training within Virginia and to the ODCS offices, courts, jails, and other required locations.
