MAK Design + Build is an award-winning residential design + build remodeling company based in Davis, California. We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join a collaborative, hardworking, and solution-focused team. We value craftsmanship, direct communication, continuous learning, and taking pride in every project we complete. Our projects include kitchens, bathrooms, additions, whole-home remodels, and occasional new construction. Because we design what we build, our carpenters are involved throughout construction and play an essential role in delivering beautiful, well-crafted homes while creating an outstanding experience for our clients.

The Carpenter is an accountable member of the Build Team responsible for producing high-quality residential remodeling projects safely, efficiently, and with exceptional attention to detail. This role performs a wide range of carpentry tasks, from demolition and rough framing to detailed finish work, while working closely with the Project Manager, Lead Carpenter, and Director of Build to keep projects on schedule and deliver a zero-punch-list client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform residential remodeling work including demolition, framing, finish carpentry, cabinet installation, doors, trim, hardware, drywall repair, painting, and punch work.
  • Protect clients' homes through proper dust control, floor protection, and jobsite cleanliness.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project details.
  • Communicate clearly with the Project Manager, Lead Carpenter, Director of Build, homeowners, subcontractors, and teammates.
  • Maintain organization of tools, materials, and work areas while helping coordinate deliveries and project logistics.
  • Produce high-quality craftsmanship while maintaining production schedules and company standards.
  • Identify field challenges early and work collaboratively to develop practical solutions.
  • Utilize company technology including JobTread, scheduling software, email, shared documents, and mobile applications.
  • Continuously improve carpentry skills, building knowledge, and construction techniques.
  • Help maintain a positive, professional, and collaborative jobsite culture.

Qualifications

  • Own reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license.
  • Own basic hand tools (company power tools and specialty tools provided).

Location + Work Arrangement

This is a full-time position based in Davis, California. Our office is located in downtown Davis, and our projects are generally within a 45-minute drive. Daily work is performed on active residential remodeling job sites throughout the surrounding communities.
