Job description

Overview

Seeking qualified Carpenter to support construction self-perform activities in a safe manner. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to safety, be capable of performing physical labor, and be familiar with the construction industry's safety standards and procedures. Fluency in English, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work in the West Palm Beach area are required.

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials
  • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes
  • Erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes
  • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
  • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers
  • Perform finish and trim carpentry work according to plans and specifications
  • Measure, cut, and install various fixtures and millwork for doors, windows, ceiling panels, staircases, decking, furniture, etc.
  • Collaborate with other carpenters, journeymen, and supervisors to complete projects
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with building components and equipment
  • Follow established regulations and advocate for safety on each worksite
  • Rough carpenters build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms; scaffolds; safety railings, structural supports; and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions.

Safety

  • Carpenter must implement and understand the Liberty Safety plan.
  • The Carpenter is responsible for implementing and following all safety procedures and instructing all new employees that are specific to their project.
  • Carpenter is responsible for the routine safety inspection and maintenance of all on site Liberty tools.
  • Carpenter must enforce safety with all other Liberty employees on site.
  • Carpenter will hold weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings on site and forward copies of meeting notes with signatures to the Liberty Office weekly.
  • Carpenter is responsible to ensure that Liberty employees are provided with and using all personnel protective equipment as needed.
  • Carpenter shall adhere to and enforce a 100% eye protection policy.
  • Carpenter shall adhere to and enforce a 6 foot fall protection policy.
Qualifications

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10/30
  • First Aid / CPR
  • Rigging & Hoisting License
  • Aerial Lift Certification is desirable.
  • Forklift & Lull Certification is desirable.
  • High School diploma or GED
Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will mostly work outdoors. May need to lift items in excess of 50 lbs. and perform elevated work. They sometimes work indoors without heating or air conditioning. They will wear protective attire. Often are exposed to hazardous equipment, such as power tools. Are sometimes exposed to high places, such as when climbing on roofs or ladders. Will be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Sometimes will be exposed to cramped workspaces that require getting into awkward positions. Sometimes will be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures while working outdoors.

Construction jobsite and warehouse conditions, which include exposure to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; weather conditions, and loud noises.  Some general office and construction trailer working conditions. Job site walking.
