Job Responsibilities
Diagnose, maintain, test, overhaul and repair commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at the McEntire Joint National Guard base. Conducts preventative maintenance, change belts and filters. Maintain, troubleshooting, inspection and repair air compressors and refrigeration equipment. Operates welding and soldering equipment to fabricate and repair metals associated with HVAC equipment. Operate air injection plant and computerized energy management systems. Perform corrosion control maintenance on equipment. Knowledge of safety practices is relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Ability to comprehend and understand / follow instructions, blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to perform arithmetic and to communicate effectively.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the maintenance and repair of heating and air conditioning equipment. Must possess knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment.
Additional Comments
Applicants must be CFC certified. Must be able to operate a computer and automated logic software for energy management systems. Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver's license. In accordance with DOD Instructions, the incumbent will be required to pass a background check and be eligible for a Security Clearance. Knowledge of facility /infrastructural systems. Ability to lift 75 lbs. and perform heavy manual labor along with lifting, climbing stairs/ladders, stooping and bending will be required. Knowledge of HVAC concepts and application skills. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and building codes. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold). The use of a scissor lift/ aerial bucket truck might be required for daily maintenance. Some overnight travel/training may be required.Position involves on-call and call back / emergency on-call responsibility.
