Job description

TITLE:  Caring Hands Lead Teacher

FLSA STATUS:  Non Exempt

REPORTS TO: Community Ed. Coordinator & Community Ed. Director

COMPENSATION: Educational MN WM-ESP Contract--Starting at $20.30/hour

CLASS SUMMARY: 

The Lead Teacher will design and implement engaging educational activities, oversee the daily operations of the classroom, and work closely with a team of educators to foster the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. This position is ideal for individuals dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and leading a classroom with creativity and care.  

TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that support children's developmental milestones and encourage exploration, creativity, and learning.
  • Lead and supervise classroom staff, including Assistant Teachers and Aides, ensuring teamwork and collaboration in managing the daily classroom environment.
  • Monitor and document the progress of each child, preparing developmental reports and discussing progress with parents during conferences.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child's growth, addressing concerns, and fostering strong home-school connections. Maintain confidentiality, and have a passion for working with children and parents.
  • Maintain a well-organized and clean classroom, ensuring all equipment, toys, and materials are used safely and properly.
  • Implement daily routines and schedules, including circle time, meals, rest periods, and outdoor play
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, center policies, and safety standards.
  • Physically able to lift classroom equipment; physically able to be active with small children including sitting on the floor, kneeling, squatting, bending etc.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Teacher or significant experience in a child care or early education setting required.
  • Knowledge of child development principles, early learning standards, and classroom management techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment for children and staff.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position involves frequent sitting, standing and walking.
  • Position involves listening, speaking clearly, and visual acuity.
