Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) supports nursing staff by providing basic patient care and assisting with daily living activities. The PCA helps ensure patient comfort, safety, and dignity while maintaining a clean and supportive care environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Help patients with mobility, transfers, and positioning
  • Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration)
  • Assist with feeding and monitoring food/fluid intake
  • Respond to patient call lights and report needs to nursing staff
  • Maintain patient rooms, ensuring cleanliness and safety
  • Assist nurses with basic medical procedures as directed
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols
