Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Services

CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Cardiac Services team. In this role, the RN provides nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with ANA standards, the New Jersey Practice Act, Joint Commission requirements, and established hospital and Nursing Department policies and procedures. The RN also assists physicians by monitoring patients during cardiac testing procedures to ensure safety and accurate clinical assessment.

Responsibilities
  • Obtains a complete nursing history and baseline assessment that is systematic, consistent, and continuous. This assessment is communicated effectively and documented.
  • Appropriately analyzes health status data to determine nursing diagnosis and needs for appropriate nursing care, medical intervention or services of other clinical professionals.
  • Identifies patient problems and formulates nursing diagnosis according to physical, psychological, spiritual/cultural and educational needs in conjunction with a multi disciplinary approach.
  • Consistently includes patient and family in the development of an individualized plan of care.
  • Administers medications as needed following CSHS policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Takes immediate and appropriate actions in the event of a medication variance occurrence.
  • Maintains and upgrades own nursing practice and development.
  • Recognizes adverse reactions to medications and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Recognizes changes in patient condition and/or emergencies situations and takes immediate and appropriate actions.
  • Participates in unit conferences to discuss quality issues and quality improvement strategies.
  • Delegates components of care to non-professional caregivers as appropriate.
  • Makes decisions that demonstrated knowledge of nursing practice; utilizes sound nursing judgment in clinical and patient care management situations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in the care of patients and in the coordination of care to assure the achievement of maximum outcome
  • Provides appropriate interventions for pain.
  • Documents pain assessment, intervention and reassessment.
  • Notifies physician for unrelieved pain as indicated.
  • Provides patient/family education regarding cardiac risk factors.
  • Introduces plan for healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Educates patient in cardiac disease process and introduces cardiac rehab recovery plan.
  • Supports operations by demonstrating ability and willingness to float between units as an RN and provides 1:1 patient observation when deemed necessary
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Two years experience in telemetry or critical care required. Experience in emergency care considered.
  • Current NJ RN License required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ACLS Certification required.

Compensation Range: $44.00 - $74.80 per hour

The compensation above reflects the established range from CentraState Healthcare System (CSHS) for this position at the time the job was posted. CSHS considers many factors to determine compensation, including education, experience, skills, licenses, certification, and training. As such, team member compensation may fall outside this range.

Additionally, the compensation range reflects base salary and does not include extra shift rates or incentives tied to quality, productivity, etc., as applicable.
