Position Summary
The Estimator plays a key role in the bidding process by preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects. Working as part of a collaborative team, this role performs take-offs, estimate entries, and reviews bidding documents while following standardized estimating procedures. The Estimator supports capture teams across the company and requires close collaboration with various departments to ensure estimates align with company standards and client expectations while embracing Forgen's core values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with capture teams to develop solutions and estimate resources for various projects.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, proposal documents, and schedules.
  • Assess project risks and communicate findings based on proposal documents.
  • Conduct quantity takeoffs and review drawings for potential concerns.
  • Identify competitive advantages and present ideas to the capture team.
  • Obtain multiple competitive quotes for materials and subcontracted services.
  • Maintain a historical cost database and prepare critical-path schedules.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings to assess project requirements and site conditions.
  • Organize bid files and ensure accuracy in calculations and documentation.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and partners.
  • Meet deadlines and complete estimates with precision and attention to detail.
  • Perform additional assignments as needed.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management
  • Two plus years of estimating experience in heavy-civil, geotechnical and/or environmental remediation fields.
  • Experience estimating on >$500K projects
  • Scheduling software experience (Primavera/MS Project) is required.
  • Estimating software experience (Bid2Win/B2W, HCSS, or similar) is required.
  • Quantity takeoff software experience (Agtek/AutoCAD).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience estimating on >$5 million projects
  • Excellent computer skills include knowledge and experience with Primavera, Microsoft Project, Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
  • Direct experience advising project leadership on complex issues.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
