What does a capture director do?

A capture director leads business development efforts to secure new contracts and opportunities, often in government or large organizations. They coordinate proposal teams, develop strategic plans, and ensure compliance with client requirements to win projects. Strong leadership, industry knowledge, and proposal management skills are essential in this role.

How does a Capture Director typically collaborate with business development and proposal teams during the pursuit of new contracts?

A Capture Director works closely with both business development and proposal teams to shape the overall strategy for winning new contracts. This role involves leading opportunity assessments, developing win themes, and coordinating resources to address client needs effectively. The Capture Director ensures that all stakeholders are aligned on the pursuit plan, facilitates communication between technical experts and proposal writers, and often conducts competitive analysis to refine the approach. Effective collaboration is essential, as the Capture Director acts as the central point of contact to drive the pursuit from early qualification through proposal submission.
