Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $15.48 - Midpoint: $18.56 (Hourly N2)


Department/Organization: 508108 - Capstone Village Facility Cost


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm; some weekends


Job Summary: The Building Services Assistant performs a wide variety of manual and technical duties in the maintenance and repair of campus buildings.


Additional Department Summary: Provides basic labor for landscape and flower installation and maintenance. Drives University vehicles such as trucks, golf carts, and mowers.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Must complete DETA Brain Series Training under the supervision of the Healthcare Administrator. Must complete six (6) hours of Assisted Living and Dementia refresher trainings each year. Must follow approved infection control procedures.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work overtime, sometimes on short notice based on the condition of the grounds and Capstone Village event schedules. Ability to work long days, on foot, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Ability to work in all weather climates (hot, cold, rain, etc.). Ability to lift, handle, and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job (riding zero turn mower, push mower, weed eater, sidewalk edger, power washer, etc.). Ability to use job-related tools and equipment and chemical supplies. Ability to work from a ladder and use tape measure and maintenance tools. Ability to work around pets.


Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of basic plumbing, minor electrical, appliance installation, wall repair to include patching and painting, and basic carpentry. Six (6) months of experience.
