Job description

Tri Star Energy is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Construction Project Manager to join our innovative Facilities & Construction team in our Store Support Center in Nashville, TN. The Construction Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of retail construction projects across Tri Star Energy's store network, including new site builds, remodels, renovations, capital improvements, and facility-related construction initiatives. This role provides field-level project management, vendor coordination, schedule tracking, documentation support, and on-site follow-through to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, on time, and within approved scope.
This position serves as a key liaison between Facilities & Construction, Operations, vendors, contractors, inspectors, and internal business partners. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for helping translate approved project plans into successful field execution while minimizing disruption to store operations and maintaining alignment with company standards, safety expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:
Retail Construction & Remodel Project Management
• Coordinate assigned construction, remodel, renovation, and capital improvement projects across retail store locations.
• Support on-site execution of approved construction plans, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to company expectations.
• Monitor project schedules, milestones, budgets, and potential delays; communicate risks and recommended solutions to leadership.
• Track project deliverables from planning through completion, including permitting, inspections, vendor scheduling, punch lists, and turnover.
• Support timely inspections and approvals required for Certificates of Occupancy, project closeout, and operational handoff.
• Partner with design, construction, facilities, and operations stakeholders to ensure project plans are clear, executable, and aligned before field work begins.
Contractor, Vendor & Field Coordination
• Coordinate general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and service providers assigned to construction and remodel projects.
• Serve as an on-site company representative for assigned field construction activity, escalating decisions outside of authority as appropriate.
• Monitor vendor work quality, site readiness, installation timelines, and adherence to approved scope.
• Assist in identifying, communicating, and resolving field issues that may impact project timeline, cost, safety, or store operations.
• Support vendor scheduling and service completion across assigned projects.
Store Operations & Cross-Functional Support
• Collaborate with Retail Operations leadership to minimize store disruption during remodels, renovations, equipment installations, and construction activity.
• Communicate project timelines, access needs, safety considerations, and operational impacts to appropriate stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Accounting, Procurement, Facilities Support, Environmental Compliance, IT, Marketing, and other internal teams to support project execution.
• Assist with project-related communication between Support Center teams, field leaders, store teams, contractors, and external partners.
Project Documentation, Reporting & Closeout
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, budgets, vendor updates, inspection records, photos, punch lists, approvals, and closeout materials.
• Track project status, open items, risks, and follow-up actions; provide regular updates to leadership.
• Review project logs, invoices, expenditure tracking, and related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Support project closeout by confirming outstanding work, vendor completion, documentation, and operational turnover.
• Maintain organized records for audit, accounting, compliance, and future project reference.
Budget, Scope & Change Management Support
• Monitor project spending against approved budgets and identify potential cost concerns early.
• Assist with review of estimates, vendor quotes, project expenses, and proposed change orders.
• Escalate material scope changes, budget risks, and major timeline impacts as appropriate.
• Provide input on cost-saving opportunities, project sequencing, and field execution improvements.
Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Ensure assigned projects comply with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, ADA standards, environmental regulations, petroleum-related requirements, and construction site protocols.
• Support safe work practices on project sites and communicate concerns to vendors, contractors, and leadership as needed.
• Monitor quality of work and identify issues requiring correction before project turnover.
• Serve as a point of contact for inspectors or regulatory representatives related to assigned construction activity.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience managing commercial construction, retail construction, remodel, renovation, or facilities-related projects.
• Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, permitting, inspections, schedules, and project documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and project tracking tools.
• Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the company's operating footprint.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Convenience store, petroleum, retail, fuel, restaurant, or multi-site construction experience.
• Knowledge of permitting, ADA compliance, OSHA requirements, and commercial construction practices.
• Experience with project management software, construction scheduling tools, or facilities management systems.
• PMP, CCM, or other construction/project management certification.
