Senior Accounting Analyst - Capital Payments (B&T)

This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective hire date.
Opening:
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is North America's largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people across a 5,000-square-mile travel area surrounding New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. The MTA network comprises the nation's largest bus fleet and more subway and commuter rail cars than all other U.S. transit systems combined. MTA strives to provide a safe and reliable commute, excellent customer service, and rewarding opportunities.
Position Objective:
Responsible for analyzing and reviewing capital payment data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. Prepares financial reports, performs reconciliations related to capital payments and transactions, and supports audit and compliance activities. Duties include advanced invoice review, cost control monitoring, insurance verification, and ensuring all capital payment requests meet financial and contractual requirements. Ensures timely and accurate processing of capital payments and supports ongoing improvements in financial operations. Serve as the backup to the Senior Manager, Capital Payments, and may oversee daily operations, direct workflow, and approve payment transactions in the manager's absence.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and validate capital invoices, supporting documentation, contract compliance and payment packages.
  • Prepare and review financial reports related to payments
  • Coordinate with internal teams to optimize payment workflows
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • Contribute to developing payment policies and procedures
  • Support audits and compliance checks
  • Innovate and implement process improvements in capital payment systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned
