Job description

Job Description Capgemini Government Solutions (CGS) LLC is seeking a Microsoft Purview Engineer to lead the architecture, implementation, and management of our data governance and information protection strategy. As a key member of the Security and Compliance team, you will bridge the gap between raw data and secure, governed insights. You will be responsible for ensuring that our digital estate—spanning Azure, Microsoft 365, and multi-cloud environments—is mapped, classified, and protected according to global regulatory standards and Zero Trust principles.

Job Responsibilities: Architect and deploy the Microsoft Purview governance portal to scan, ingest, and catalog metadata from diverse sources (Azure SQL, Synapse, S3, Snowflake, and on-premises). Design and maintain a comprehensive Sensitivity Labeling taxonomy and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to automate the protection of PII, PHI, and intellectual property. Establish end-to-end data lineage to provide visibility into data movement and transformation, supporting audit and compliance requirements.

Configure and monitor Insider Risk Management and Communication Compliance policies to detect and mitigate data exfiltration or policy violations. Develop PowerShell scripts and utilize Purview APIs to automate administrative tasks and integrate Purview metadata with Microsoft Sentinel for advanced threat hunting. Act as the technical lead for Data Privacy, Legal, and IT teams to translate complex regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53, GDPR, HIPAA) into technical controls.

Required qualifications: Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT Systems Engineering or Cybersecurity. 2 years of hands-on experience specifically engineering and managing Microsoft Purview (formerly Azure Purview and M365 Compliance). Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

Deep proficiency in Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance centers Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell for automated policy deployment. Knowledge of KQL (Kusto Query Language) for log analysis and reporting. Proven ability to explain technical risks to non-technical executive leadership.

This role may be eligible for other compensation including variable compensation, bonus, or commission.
