Doctors' Assistant- Veterinary Scribe 
Pay range- $22-$24/hr, commensurate with experience, schedule, credentials
 
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a full-time Doctors' Assistant- Veterinary Scribe to join the team in our Buzzards Bay, MA, location.  
 
About this role
The doctor's assistant (DA) is an essential member of the healthcare team and serves as an extension of the doctor. By working closely with an assigned doctor, the DA performs specific tasks that allow the doctor to concentrate on patient care, diagnosis, and treatment. These tasks include communicating with other departments, patient families, and referring veterinarians, entering medical data, and providing exceptional customer service through organizational tasks that reduce wait times. This role enables you to establish a strong connection with patients and clients and to promote the human-animal-veterinary bond.
 
Responsibilities and Functions
  • Inputting and maintaining patient records 
  • Supporting doctors and clients in medical visits
  • Promoting patient flow to minimize client wait times and increase overall efficiency.
  • Communicating effectively with the referring veterinarians and hospitals in the community.
  • Patient discharges
 Salary, Schedule, and Benefits Include (but are not limited to)
  • Salary starting at $22/hr, commensurate with experience and shifts. 
  • Schedules include days, evenings, weekends, and a holiday shift rotation. 
    • The initial training schedule may differ.

 Required Qualifications
  • More than one year of experience in the veterinary hospital as a technician, liaison, or CCA, or equivalent experience in human medicine
  • Sufficient computer experience (Word, Excel) and the ability to learn various veterinary software programs
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Professional-level typing skills
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks appropriately
  • Excellent clear communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Must be attentive and demonstrate a high level of respect to referring veterinarians, clients, and co-workers
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on your feet for long periods
