Function
Title I Parent Engagement/Instructional Paraprofessional institutes and maintains a viable Title I Parent and Family Engagement program and acts as a public relations liaison between the campus and the community ensuring parents have adequate access to information, services, and the support they need to make sure their child achieves academic and social success in school. Title I Parent Engagement/Instructional Paraprofessional works to plan effective capacity building activities that engage parents and families and improve student academic achievement and attendance.

Responsibilities:
  • Offer a flexible number of monthly workshops to help educate and increase parent's ability to work with their children to improve academic achievement.
  • Work with individual and/or small groups of students in corrective or reinforcement activities assigned by the teacher, except where certain programs may prohibit supervision of a given activity.
  • Assist the teacher in implementing special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities
  • Assist with supervision of students
  • Makes home visits accompanied by another district employee upon the recommendation of the principal or designee to aid in the intervention of specific attendance problems.
  • Involve parents, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of the school parent and family engagement policy and the development or revision of the school-parent compact.
  • Collaborate with campus staff to provide assistance to parents in understanding such topics as State academic standards, state and local academic assessments, and how to monitor their child's progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children.
  • Share monthly Title I reports with the principal
  • Maintain an accurate record of all services provided.
  • Work with the Title I Implementation Support Specialist to refer families to the proper agencies for meeting their immediate needs and assists them with completing the required forms
  • Participate in professional development for parent and family capacity building and, as applicable, present information to peer upon return
  • Welcome new families to the school and encourage parents to volunteer at the school
  • Help families in obtaining supplies and access to social services. when needed
  • Collaborate with campus staff to ensure the Title I Annual Meetings are conducted twice a year
